Rascom I.T.
offer a cost-effective repair service for faulty computer equipment.
We aim to offer
a fast turnaround time for all repairs though this obviously
depends on the severity of the problem.
Some examples
of our fixed-price repair services are listed below but for
all requirements you are recommended to
contact
us to discuss your problem further.

Replacement power supplies |
One
of the commonest repairs we undertake - a faulty or
blown power supply in your desktop or laptop computer.
Desktop systems
We can supply and fit a replacement power supply for
just £49.99 inc VAT. We have a range in
stock to fit current and older systems. For standard
MicroATX-based systems, we only use high-quality, low-noise
high-wattage units to provide your system with the maximum
power throughput without compromising on noise levels.
Laptop computers
We can supply original or compatible adapters starting
from £44.99 inc VAT. Please
contact
us with
the exact make/model of your machine as prices vary
depending on laptop manufacturer and the age of the
machine.

Replacement hard disk drives
for desktops |
If your
hard disk has failed or you simply need more storage
space we have a range of disk options to suit your needs.
We
commonly use Seagate and Western Digital hard disk
drives and will normally use a drive with a higher
memory cache where possible to improve system
performance.

Due to the current availability issues of hard disk
drives, the pricing below should only be used as a
guideline. Please call us to discuss latest
pricing and availability.

As IDE-style drives are older technology, stocks
and supplies are limited.

*The mb value shown in brackets represents the
cache buffer used on the hard disk drive.
A larger buffer gives improved data transfer
performance.
Additional
charges may apply to transfer data, clone
existing hard disks and/or
re-install the operating system in instances of complete
disk failure. Please
contact
us for further information.

Replacement hard disk drives
for laptops |
To
expand the storage capacity of your laptop computer,
it may be possible to replace your existing hard
disk with one of a larger capacity. Unlike
desktop systems, laptops only have space for a
single disk drive so we have to 'clone' your
existing drive onto the new hard disk and therefore
our prices reflect the additional work involved.

Memory upgrades |
When the computer is starting
to run out of steam, a memory upgrade is usually a good
way of giving it a little boost without the need for
costly replacements of processors and motherboards.
Where possible we commonly used genuine
Kingston-branded memory. DDR2 memory is rated
at 800mhz, DDR3 memory is rated at 1333mhz. If
preferred we can supply other brands and/or speeds.
Laptops and Desktop (DDR2 & DDR3 memory)
1Gb : £30.00

2Gb : £40.00 inc VAT and fitting
4Gb : £50.00 inc VAT and fitting
Pricing for legacy DDR memory available upon request
subject to stock availability.
NOTE:
Standard Windows XP, Vista and 7 32-bit
operating systems will not support memory capacity
higher than 3Gb.
Windows Vista and 7 64-bit systems will allow memory
capacity of up to 192Gb although most motherboards
currently only support up to 16Gb. |
